7 Bullet Points for having a better relationship with Mary

Today I thought I would give a very simple and straight forward post on Mary. We are all brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ, and thus children of His holy mother Mary, the Theotokos. However, how can we can get closer to our mother, and thus closer to Christ?

Well here are seven easy to remember points:

  • Pray the Morning Offering
    • This can be very simple, just make sure that every morning you take a moment to offer up all your works, joys, thoughts, and sufferings for the knowledge, service and love of Jesus Christ, and ask for Mary’s help at this point in the day.
  • Three Hail Marys for Purity
    • Get down on your knees and stretch your arms out as if you were being nailed to the cross, and pray three Hail Marys. 1st. For your Holy Purity; 2nd. For your the Holy Purity of your friends and family; 3rd. For the Holy Purity of the World.
  • A General Examination of Conscience
    • This is part of your prayers right before you go to sleep. You look over the day in the most general sense and recognize the sins you committed, and before you go to sleep be sure to pray an Act of Contrition for these sins.
      • O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
  • An Image of Our Ladypic
    • Everyone needs the constant reminders of why we are here on earth, and an image of Christ’s mother, full of grace is a great one.
  • Pray the Rosary
    • Some find this the hardest to do, but pray the Rosary every day. We know what Our Lady of Fatima said to the young boy, if he wanted to reach heaven, he had to pray many many rosaries. This is true for us all. On the commute to school or work, do not plug in your headphones, try praying the rosary. Also be sure to pray “O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of your Mercy. Amen.,” at the end of each and every decade.
